Van Halen - 1984 Ryan Adams Tucson Train41984 was Van Halen's sixth studio album, released in January 1984. It was the first album the band recorded in Eddie Van Halen's own 5150 studio. Synthesizers took a prominent place alongside guitar on the record. Jump, with its distinctive synth riff, became the band's only US number one hit. Panama, Hot for Teacher and I'll Wait also came from the album. 1984 spent months at number two on the Billboard album chart, behind Michael Jackson's Thriller.
