it's made of deep purple coloured glass

very similar to the example featured in Georgian Jewellery (Ginny Redington Dawes with Olivia Collins

however it was made in the late Victorian era (in France) at the turn of the 20th Century

The ring itself is crafted in 18 karat gold, with English hallmarks and the maker's mark of Edward Vaughton of 4 Warstone Lane, Birmingham. It dates from the late Victorian period, circa 1890, and remains in great condition having developed a lovely patina over the years.
