The bottom three are red because they are constantly in the shade. Through a mutual agreement between the flowers, equal time for the sunlight is provided. To demonstrate, the performer passes his hand over the stalk and the flowers are seen to suddenly alternate in color: red, yellow, red, yellow, etc. Great visual magic.
