Emile Levassor in a Panhard-Levassor mb-width 2941 In the foreground figures standEmile Levassor in a Panhard Levassor, c1890 c1895. Levassor is in the driver's seat, with a passenger, on the Paris Rouen run. Levassor, together with Rene Panhard established the present design of cars, with the engine in front. The design came to be known as the Systeme Panhard, and was the forerunner of the modern cars.
